Spring to us means snacks for on-the-go. As a mom of 3 ranging from 5 to 16, I’ve found the most success and productivity when we have snacks on-hand for busy afternoons, for running out the door Sunday mornings for church, or for anytime we’re traveling for spring or early summer (think camps galore).
Peanuts have become such a staple in our everyday routine—especially this time of year. I keep them in the pantry packaged in snack mixes. It’s as easy as pairing them with a dried fruit or some spices, and here are some of my kid’s favorites:
Perfect Peanut Pairings
– Peanuts + Dried Blueberries: a delicious little snack bag filled with antioxidants and protein.
– Peanuts + Raisins: the classic favorite for myself because it’s sweet, salty, crunchy, chewy, and the perfect filling snack!
– Peanuts + Chopped Dates + Dark Chocolate Chips: this one has a caramelly flavor with a crunch, almost like a deconstructed candy bar.
– Peanuts + Roasted with Everything Bagel Seasoning: this savory snack is crunchy, flavorful, and waaaay better for the kids than chips!
Those are easy wins for our house. For those snacks, there is almost no prep, and there’s definitely no stress nor mess. But what is best about peanuts as a snack isn’t just the convenience, it’s the nutrition inside that tiny little package:
Peanuts are packed with 19 vital vitamins and minerals, including CoQ10, which helps support metabolism. They’re also full of healthy fats that support brain function and nervous system function, so kids are getting something that actually helps fuel their growing minds—not just filling them up.
Plus, they have 7 grams of protein per serving, so they are that perfect little snack hero that keeps everyone satisfied longer. No sugar crashes, no constant “I’m hungry again” five minutes later. I notice a steady energy that helps us keep moving through our busy afternoons.
And they fit into the rhythm of nourishing a busy family. As a dietitian, I tell people “they don’t slow you down—they keep you going!
When we do have a little more time at home, I love turning that same simple ingredient into something fun and a little special- with Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Peanut Bark, or Mini Frozen Peanut Butter Cheesecakes. They are a treat, but thanks to peanuts, there is still solid nutrition in them.
Just remember this spring and summer, peanuts check all the boxes! They’re quick, nutritious, affordable, and versatile enough to keep things interesting and satisfy every tastebud in our home. Plus, enjoying peanuts means supporting hard-working Georgia Farmers. A win all around!
