School Nutrition

georgia school nutrition association

The beloved Georgia Peanut packs were recently increased in size from ¾ oz. to 1 oz.! The Georgia Peanut Commission hopes this helps meet the meal pattern requirement for school nutrition programs, in addition to providing a local food to school option for districts to consider. As it stands, Williams Food Group is the only distributor offering this product; however, other distributors are willing to offer it if they receive interest from school districts.

The new 1 oz. size will also make a great option for breakfast and our new GSNA culinary contest category – After School Snack!

School nutrition personnel can order directly from the Georgia Peanut Commission to try the packs and see if it’s a good fit for their program. If it is, districts should place it on the bid sheet with their distributor and express interest so the distributor will pick it up.

Glynn County School District

The Glynn County School district is a big fan of the peanuts for grab and go protein options! This past school year, they incorporated the ¾ oz. packs along with fruit and cheese for students with great success!
