The Cromley Family

Owned by brothers Hal & Chap Cromley, Nellwood Farms is a 7th generation farm in Bulloch County that produces peanuts, cotton, and cattle. The brothers each have a son who works alongside them on the farm. Hal believes everyone has a special place on Nellwood Farms, like the Aldrich brothers who have been helping on the farm since 1989.

Hal Cromley is a 6th generation farmer who tries to find a passion within his farming operation. He previously enjoyed overseeing their tobacco crops but has since found a love for peanuts. “To keep from being left behind, you must stay in contact with the Extension service and be willing to try new products,” Hal said.

Colbey Cromley, Hal’s son, is responsible for planting, spraying, and harvesting the crops. One of Colby’s favorite childhood memories is riding in the truck with his father to check the tobacco crop. He enjoys tending to the land for future generations and producing bountiful crops. Hal hopes that Colbey’s son will one day be the 8th generation.
