Celebrate with Salad and Peanuts!

Did you know May is National Salad Month? Georgia peanut farmers also wrapped up peanut planting season in May. Georgia is home to more than 4,700 peanut farm families who grow nearly 50 percent of all of the peanuts produced in the United States. To celebrate the two occasions, visit some of your favorite Atlanta restaurants and try out their salads featuring peanuts! We all know we need to eat our veggies; adding peanuts to the mix adds flavor and texture interest and ensures our meal is balanced with healthy fats, protein and essential nutrients.

Here are a few restaurant suggestions to get you started:

  • Houston’s Atlanta – Try their Emerald Kale & Rotisserie Chicken Salad with fresh herbs and a roasted peanut vinaigrette.
  • Highland Bakery  – Need a quick lunch? Stop in Highland Bakery for their Thai Peanut Salad featuring grilled chicken or tofu, glass noodles, basil, carrots, red peppers and peanut sauce served warm over a bed of spring mix.
  • Flats Handcrafted Flatbread – Enjoy a Thai-inspired dish with Flats’ Bangkok Chicken Salad filled with grilled chicken, salad greens, carrots, cucumber cilantro, peanuts and topped with a Thai peanut dressing.
  • King + Duke – Love seafood? Try their mouth-watering Georgia Shrimp Salad featuring cabbage, sprouts, nam plah peanut dressing and Thai herbs togarashi.

Rather build your own salad at home? Try this tasty Peanut Butter Quinoa Kale Bowl from Southern Peanut Growers. The Georgia Peanuts Pinterest page has even more ways to incorporate peanuts and peanut butter into your diet – check it out today and celebrate peanuts all year long!
