Meet Farmer Murray Campbell from Mitchell County

Murray Campbell farms in Pebble City, a small community in Mitchell County, Georgia, where he and his wife settled after marrying. Growing cotton and peanuts, Campbell has expanded his operation significantly from its original 75 acres of dryland production.

After graduating high school, Campbell had two goals: farm and marry his high school sweetheart. He did both and today, he continues pursuing his passion while recognizing the challenges facing producers, particularly younger farmers navigating financial pressures, unpredictable weather and fluctuating crop prices.

Campbell emphasizes the importance of farmers being involved in agricultural organizations and industry discussions. By attending meetings and gathering information, he believes producers can better understand issues affecting their operations and ensure their voices are heard.

As he looks toward the future, Campbell plans to gradually transition more responsibilities to his son while remaining involved in the farm. Whether scouting crops or helping fire up peanut pickers, he intends to continue doing what he loves.

For Campbell, farming is more than a career. It is a lifelong passion.
